Master of Arts in Theatre
The holder of a master’s degree will be able to decide on, start up, organize, manage and implement processes for physical theatre at a highly developed level, drawing on a large store of appropriate experience. The Master-Campus-Theater-CH offers six areas of in-depth study: Scenic Arts, Stage Design, Directing, Acting, Theatre Education and Physical Theatre. The students who choose the Verscio campus concentrate on movement theatre, with the emphasis on an individual project.
Within each specialization, the student concentrates on three key aspects:
The holder of a master’s degree in theatre will be able to manage all stages of a personal project. Conceive a production, plan it, produce it and contextualize it, i.e. taking into consideration the interests and needs of the audience.
The holder of a master’s degree in theatre will be able to include different artistic forms in a project, with different types of audience in mind, exhibiting leadership qualities dependent on a thorough knowledge of each discipline.
Research is an important component of the master's candidates artistic production. This research is done mostly in the preparatory and concluding phases of the final performance piece. During the preparatory phase the emphasis is on gathering data, then in applying the data to culmination in the performance and the written thesis. The curriculum therefore includes courses designed to improve students’ research skills and familiarize them with a theoretical approach.
