Master of Arts in Theatre
What is a Master of Arts in Theatre?
The holder of a master’s degree will be able to decide on, start up, organize, manage and implement processes of a certain complexity, drawing on a large store of appropriate experience. The students who choose the Verscio branch of the Master-Campus-Teatro CH concentrate on movement theatre, with the emphasis on a personal project. Altogether, the Campus offers six areas of in-depth study.
Within each specialization, the student concentrates on three key aspects:
Individual profile
The holder of a master’s degree in theatre will be able to manage all stages of a personal project, launch a production, plan it, produce it and contextualize it, bearing in mind the interests and needs of the audience.
Cross-disciplinary approach
The holder of a master’s degree in theatre will be able to include different artistic forms in a project, with different types of recipients in mind, and give proof of leadership and responsibility. The inclusion of other artistic forms presupposes a deep knowledge of the field. A cross-disciplinary approach strengthens the knowledge one has of one’s own discipline.
Scientific profile
The humanistic subjects relating to the artistic disciplines are supplemented by research in the context of an artistic production developed in parallel. This research is done mostly in the preparatory and concluding phases of the practical work. Systematic research during the preparatory phase of a project is a fundamental aspect of an artist’s work. The scientific concepts acquired along the way find their application in the production. The curriculum therefore includes courses designed to improve students’ research skills and familiarize them with a scientific approach.
