A statue for Dimitri at Ascona

On September 19th, 2017, a statue of Dimitri was unveiled.
It is part of the #Woodvetia campaign, which was started in collaboration with the Federal Office for the Environment and which wants to promote the usage of Swiss wood for the construction of homes. The statue was carved in the wood of a cherry tree from Ticino. It was created by Inigo Gheyselinck, an artist from Zurich, who worked together with different partners from the forest and wood economy. As desired by the members of the Dimitri family, the statue was placed on the lakeside of the Lago Maggiore in Ascona, near the statue of Dimitri’s mother Maja, which had been created by Dimitri’s father Werner Jakob Müller.
